I started my adventure with Arctica and the far North in 2002 from an expedition to Svalbard. I traversed the island with a partner, from the capitol Longyearbyen to the southern extremities of the island, to the Polish Polar Station Hornsund. It took us 21 days to finish the round trip on skis with sledge. During our trip we met only two Norwegians heading in the opposite direction. Since that moment I fell in love with Arctica, wild areas, long days, freezing cold and this exceptional point where glaciers and snow meet the sea.
Lyngen Peninsula in Norway with Alps it is a magical place of the far North, a perfect spot for ski touring. There are no ski lifts in here. Instead there are yachts. You can sleep onboard or stay in one of the beautiful local hotels, that at the same time are a good base for one day ski tours. The best time for northern trips is the time of polar days, when night lasts only a few hours. We start ski touring trips in the last week of April and continue them till the second half of May. Ski Touring in Lyngen Alps is the best choice for those, who don’t want to finish ski season in February or March. You can easily get here on a plane and get to the starting point of our ski trips. We use Tromso as a destination airport and we rent a car to go to Lyngen, where we spend 6 days. Depending on your preferences we rent a yacht to sleep onboard or we stay at a fishing valley.
